I really just wanted to make sure that we have happy employees who we're able to retain." I wanted to ensure that the operations standards that we have in place are the way that they should be. "As you grow, it gets a little harder to control things. "We're at a pivotal point in the growth of our company, getting ready to open our 100th ," Evans said Tuesday. Part of the motivation for appearing on the show was to observe how her employees work, but she also was trying to overcome her fear of touching people. Her name became "Traci," and her usual business attire and brunette hair were replaced by loud clothes and a red wig. She donned a disguise as a flamboyant customer. The show producers came up with Evans' cover story: She was preparing to be a contestant on a reality show so she needed beauty treatments that cameras would follow. She was interviewed in Los Angeles, approved in July and production began in September.

Massage Heights Chief Operating Officer Shane Evans, based at the company headquarters in San Antonio, Texas, contacted "Undercover Boss" in May about being on the show.

Massage Heights has one other store in Jacksonville. The show, in which high-ranking business managers go undercover in their companies to observe how the workplace operates, focuses on Massage Heights, a massage and spa business at the River City Market Place on the Northside. The CBS television reality show "Undercover Boss" will feature a Jacksonville business when it airs at 8 p.m.
